The Liturgy Committee works with the Pastor to prepare, enhance, implement, and evaluate aspects of liturgy with doctrinally sound and liturgically relevant practices to all generations of the SJB community. With varying abilities, the group includes art and environment, music, faith formation, ushers/greeters, lectors, Eucharistic ministers, and other parish ministries who promote witness to the Gospel and building the Kingdom of God.

The Music Ministry is comprised of instrumentalists, cantors, and choirs who provide music to enhance liturgical celebrations while encouraging the assembly in full, active, and conscious participation. The intent of this communal effort is to heighten the Word of God and allow for spiritual reflection. Three music groups serve at the weekend liturgies, meet for separate practices, and encourage new participants.

We are a group of youth learning to praise God with our music. We practice once a month, and lead the congregation at the monthly Children’s Mass. No music experience necessary, but basic reading skills are desirable.

Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers assist the pastor in the distribution of the Eucharist at church liturgies with reverence and dignity. You must be a practicing Catholic in good standing and 18 years or older. These ministers, at the direction of the Pastor, may bring the Eucharist to the sick, hospitalized and homebound as needed. A placement interview is mandatory by the Pastor and training sessions are required.

The lector is instituted to proclaim the readings from Sacred Scripture, with the exception of the Gospel. He may also announce the intentions for the Universal Prayer and, in the absence of a psalmist, recite the Psalm between the readings.
